WHAT IS HAIR FALL?

Hair fall occurs when we lose a considerable amount of hair from our skin. Excessive hair loss from our scalp is known as baldness. It is normal to lose around 50 to 100 hairs a day. Hair fall can happen in both males and females of different age groups and can lead to social and psychological stress. It impacts the personality and confidence of the affected individual.

Hair fall can be temporary or permanent. Temporary hair fall may be caused by stress, hypothyroidism, pregnancy, weight loss, prolonged illness, and deficiencies like protein, iron, vitamin B12, etc. Permanent hair fall may be caused by a family history of baldness, hormonal changes, and medical conditions.

Depending on the cause, hair loss can be seen in different ways. It can be seen as gradual thinning on top of the head or in the form of circular or patchy bald spots. There may be sudden loosening when handfuls of hair come out while combing or washing your hair.

You can try some home remedies and make some changes in your diet & lifestyle to manage hair loss. But if the problem persists, it is better to consult a doctor to treat the underlying medical condition, if any.
