Liver is an important organ with many essential functions such as helping in digestion, storing iron, vitamins & minerals, converting nutrients into energy, supporting immunity, removing toxins from the body etc.

Fatty liver disease is caused when too much fat gets accumulated in liver. Fatty liver doesn’t cause any serious problems in majority of cases, but in some cases, fatty liver disease can get bad as time progresses.

There are two types of fatty liver disease. Alcoholic fatty liver disease is caused when a person drinks too much alcohol. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is found in people who are not heavy drinkers. The exact cause of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is still unknown.

If you have fatty liver disease, you may notice some symptoms such as pain in abdomen, nausea, loss of appetite, jaundice, swelling in legs, weight loss, weakness etc.

You can prevent or reverse early liver damage by making some life style changes. By avoiding alcohol, losing extra weight, exercising regularly and following a healthy diet, you can avoid fatty liver disease and improve overall health.
